IET Training Opportunity for DACE Teachers
Integrated Education and Training (IET) is an innovative approach to teaching and learning which helps ESL and ABE students accelerate progress along career pathways. IET teacher partners (one CTE and one ESL/ABE) work collaboratively, co-planning lessons and co-teaching classes in the same room at the same time.We would like to invite you to learn more about IET by joining our IET New Teacher Training. Central Office will offer two IET New Teacher Trainings in 2020. Trainings are open to all CTE, ESL, or ABE/ASE instructors who are interested in learning more about the IET program and possibly teaching an IET class in the future.
Training topics will cover:
- Three components of an IET program
- IET teaching models
- Creating integrated learning objectives
- Writing integrated long-range lesson plans
- Effective grouping in IET classrooms
- Effective co-teaching strategies
IET New Teacher Trainings are intensive and take place over several days. The first IET New Teacher Training series will be offered this January 11th, 18th, and 25t. A second training series will be offered in June.
Teachers will receive a certificate of completion if they attend all three days of training and complete all components of the training portfolio. Participants will also be eligible for either District-Sponsored Training Rate or Salary Step Advancement Credit. (Teachers who attended the June 2019 IET New Teacher Training or have taught IET in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school year may be eligible for a certificate of completion based on previous service.)
